Bill Maloy (brm4) has worked with Linux pretty much non-stop since ordering a server that came pre-installed with Slackware back in 1994. It was a P1/133 and it began its life as longbeach.goldinc.com -- coincidentally the same hostname as the server that gave your browser this very page.

UPDATE: smlug.org moved from longbeach.goldinc.com to greene.goldinc.com in 2007.

These days, he's a Network Technical Representative at the Naval Research Laboratory at the Stennis Space Center, where he oversees the operation of over a hundred Unix and Linux workstations and servers.

He enjoys his not-so-mythical convergence box (MythTV) and authoring DVDs using open-source tools. His daughter, Lizzie Maloy, received a certain degree of Celebrity for videotaping installments of a Katrina Diary for CNN (in 2005/2006).
