I think my first linux install was Redhat Linux 5 I downloaded it at the house over dial up!! Not sure what year that was, maybe 98 or 99, had originally signed up with the Linux Users Group of Jackson and went to a few meetings before moving to the coast in 2000. Then got wind of the SMLUG and started going to the meetings here. I currently have a Fedora core 2 box running my webserver, and an Ubuntu box doing various tasks. I work for a company out of Jackson called ID Group, we offer Identification solutions, ID Card printers and software, and have a software development department that has written various software packages that we sell that mostly focus on ID Solutions, website is www.idgroup.net if you want more info. I moved back to Jackson right after Katrina and did IT work for the company at the home office, then finally begged, kicked, whined, moaned and groaned untill they let me move back down here!!! So I got back here this past August and couldnt be happier!! I work out of my house and love it!! I havent been able to make a meeting since returning, but I do plan on going to one soon. I have been a musician for about 25 years, when I moved back to Jackson I started my old band back up for some spending money and am still traveling back up there a couple times a month to gig on the weekends, so those Monday meetings are hard to make it to. I have been married for 16 years and have 4 kids, so after being gone all weekend I have to give the little woman some free time!! www.yankeestation.net there is a link to a myspace page there with some live recordings of us if you want to check it out.
